Synopsis

Jasmin, a 10-year-old girl, innocently plays bride with her friends .But when the game leads her to witness a brief and disturbing glimpse into her parents' world, something in her understanding begins to shift .Jasmin is left alone with what she has seen, unsure whether to play the game or walk away from the bride she was pretending to be.

Treatment

In an open ground, Jasmin (10) and her friends play marriage, mimicking the rituals they have seen in real weddings. The groom's side arrives to take Jasmin, and both sides meet at their handmade wedding space in the middle of the ground, where people usually dry clothes. Just as the ceremony begins, a girl asks for the saal. Jasmin realizes she forgot it at home and runs back to get it.

Jasmin rushes home through the narrow passage to their small rented room. Her mother is in the kitchen, cutting tomatoes. Jasmin searches for the saal but cannot find it, until she notices it wrapped around her mother. She stands before the mirror, fixes it over her head, and admires herself as a bride. Her mother scolds her for the mess in the room, reminding her of the punishment she might get from her father. Just then, her father enters. Jasmin hides behind the door, ready to slip out, but freezes when she sees him raise his hand against her mother.

Jasmin returns to the ground, where the children are still playing. A friend calls her back, and they begin the final part of the wedding. Everyone gets ready, the instruments start playing, and the children celebrate. But Jasmin stands quietly, looking at the ceremony differently now. When the moment comes for her to accept the marriage, she pauses. Without saying much, Jasmin removes the saal and walks away from the wedding.

Director's Statement

Through Jasmin's innocent game of marriage, I want to explore how a child's perception can change through one brief moment. I believe even a small beat can change the whole rhythm. By telling the story through Jasmin's eyes, I want to show the contrast between how marriage is celebrated in society and what can remain hidden inside a home. Her final refusal reflects the fear that can remain in the mind, shaping how she imagines her future.
